Peter Murphy, Managing Partner

We are very proud of our firm, the lawyers we employ and the results we achieve for our clients. We make no excuses for demanding high standards because we deal with very serious matters on a daily basis. We assure all clients, past, present and future that their matter will be conducted professionally and with the desire to achieve the best result possible. We are confident you will be happy with your decision to instruct Prime Lawyers.

As the head of division Peter maintains an active case list and works almost entirely in proceedings commenced in the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Those matters include a high percentage of defended estates in which Peter is instructed by executors and beneficiaries to defend and advise on the last will of the deceased person.

Peter is also responsible for the conduct and management of the uncontested estates division of the firm, being one of the largest privately owned Probate firms in New South Wales. In addition to estate litigation, Peter regularly advises clients involved in complex commercial litigation including matters conducted in the Federal Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.

While working throughout the greater Sydney region Peter works predominately from our Sutherland and Wollongong offices and has a very strong and loyal base of clients in both regions.

Peter is experienced and practises in the fields of property law, commercial & civil litigation, wills and estates and ensures his matters are personally conducted from start to finish.

Outside of work Peter is a keen supporter of ‘the Bloods’ and 'the Giants' in the AFL, the Wests Tigers in the NRL and enjoys spending time with his wife Jenny, little girl and little man.

“ While it is true that our clients have similar matters, each presents with their own particular circumstances. By applying the skills learned over the years from those matters we are able to provide advice that is not only correct, but with the knowledge of the likely outcome, which is a great advantage for our clients. ”

Cassandra is Sutherland’s resident property law and debt recovery star. Having worked in the legal industry for more than 20 years Cassandra is well versed in both areas, especially residential conveyancing and strata law debt recovery and litigation.

While property law and debt recovery are Cassandra’s main practice areas, her knowledge also extends into other areas of law, including wills, probate and deceased estates, commercial litigation and more (we encourage her to leave some work for the rest of us).

Clients love Cassandra for her open, honest and easy to understand legal advice, and the knowledge that their matter is in safe hands.

Outside of work Cassandra is just as busy as she is practising law. She enjoys being a mum to her four girls, collecting historical books and running with her Border Collie 'Phoebe'. A love of cooking has also lead to Cassandra becoming a published author of a cookbook 'more than four'.

If you are in need of property law or debt recovery advice then get in touch with Cassandra by phone or email to arrange a meeting at our Sutherland office.

"In Criminal Law it is for the Crown to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt. The job of a criminal defence lawyer is to analyse the charges, law and evidence, and give advice to the client as to whether the charges can be defended. If they can, we set about preparing for the trial including cross examination of Crown witnesses and submissions of law as to why the charges should be dismissed."

His practice consists of representing people charged with Criminal or Traffic Law offences, including indictable offences, which are of the most serious kind.

Jason's experience extends to matters before the Court of Criminal Appeal, High Court of Australia, government commissions and inquiries and he appears regularly before the Local and District Courts of Parramatta and Greater Western Sydney.

While based at our Parramatta office Jason is able to attend Parklea, Silverwater and Long Bay prisons and represent the client from initial bail application through to defended trial.

Jason's experience enables him to provide honest forthright advice as to whether the charges can be defended, and if not, Jason will represent you at Court by making careful submissions as to why the charges, although proven, should be dismissed or penalty reduced, as the circumstances require.

“ Every week I go before the Courts seeking to advance my client’s case. In most cases the charges faced by the client are not uncommon which is why it is important that the Magistrate appreciates the client’s individual circumstances. I take great pride in ensuring that the Court recognises why my client’s case should be treated in a particular way so as to achieve the best possible result. ”

John started his career as a lawyer working in smaller private law practices. These positions enabled John to gain the Court exposure needed to develop his advocacy skills and has given John significant experience in a wide range of criminal and traffic law cases.

John’s reputation as a fine criminal and traffic lawyer was recognised by the firm and it was without hesitation that he was approached to join Prime Lawyers as part of the criminal and traffic law division.

Since joining the firm John has displayed the skills that developed his standing before the Courts but more importantly has obtained numerous favourable outcomes by his thorough preparation and attention to detail- both in and out of the courtroom.

John is one of our most sought after lawyers and his clients take comfort in knowing that John provides sound legal advice backed up by his ongoing exposure to criminal and traffic offences in the Local and District Court jurisdictions.

Jason Keane, Solicitor

Get in touch with Jason by calling (02) 9521 2222 or making an online enquiry here.

John de Jonge, Solicitor

“ Every week I go before the Courts seeking to advance my client’s case. In most cases the charges faced by the client are not uncommon which is why it is important that the Magistrate appreciates the client’s individual circumstances. I take great pride in ensuring that the Court recognises why my client’s case should be treated in a particular way so as to achieve the best possible result. ”
