Sutherland Local Court

Sutherland Local Court is one of the larger Local Courthouses in NSW. In its jurisdiction over the criminal law Sutherland Local Court deals with hundreds of criminal law matters a week arising from the Sutherland Shire and St George District catchment areas.

The types of criminal charges that come before Sutherland Local Court vary, with a great deal of them being alcohol-related, such as assaults, AVOs and serious drink driving matters. The Court also deals with drug offences, fraud and dishonesty offences, larceny and sexual offences.

With the closing down of Kogarah Local Court, Sutherland Local Court hears all matters arising from within the Sutherland, Miranda and St George Local Area Command. This means that it covers many suburbs, such as Allawah, Bexley, Blakehurst, Hurstville, Mortdale, Riverwood, Rockdale and the entire Sutherland Shire.
